VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS
Held twice a year (generally in spring and fall), these orientations cover general information about the Katy Prairie, the Conservancy (KPC) and how volunteers can participate in saving this endangered ecosystem.  These orientations are also a requirement for volunteers who wish to join the KPC's volunteer group known as the Katy Prairie Rangers.  The next orientation scheduled is:
 

ECONNECTIONS CLASSES
Created for volunteers who want to lead public tours or just be more knowledgeable about the Katy Prairie, ECOnnections is a series of activity-based interpretive classes. Each course focuses on making connections among the biological, historical, economic, and cultural dimensions of the Katy Prairie and will illustrate the importance of conserving this valuable resource for future generations. All classes are limited to 20 participants, so registration is required. Classes are free to Rangers and to prospective volunteers who commit to a minimum of two volunteer hours with KPC

Core Courses: Required to lead public tours
Stories & Statistics: An Introduction to Storytelling
Pennies & Pioneers: Conservation Tools and History of the Katy Prairie
Potholes & Pimple Mounds: Introduction to the Katy Prairie's prairie/wetland complex

Electives: Classes offered periodically by KPC Staff or volunteers
Salt & Silt: Geology of the Katy Prairie
Kids & Critters: Teaching children in a outdoors setting

RANGER RAMBLES
To thank our dedicated volunteers, we offer volunteer-only field trips to rarely visited KPC properties or other protected areas in search of some of the most amazing wildlife, geology, and history that the prairie still has to offer. More than just a field trip, Ranger Rambles are also an ideal way to meet and get to know others who share a commitment to conservation of our most endangered ecosystem.  The next Ranger Ramble scheduled is:
