Giving Opportunies

There are many different ways that your donation can benefit
the Katy Prairie:

Unrestricted Gift – Sometimes timing is everything in a changing
landscape. Unrestricted donations help KPC react quickly to the most
pressing or unexpected needs on the prairie.

Restricted Gift – Donors may want to help with a specific fund, activity
or program. Opportunities include:

1. The Land Fund – Simply put, these donations help KPC protect
more land.
2. The Preserve Enhancement Fund – Donations go toward
improving KPC’s preserves as a place for wildlife and people.
3. The Public Access Fund – It’s about the prairie and people.
Donations support events, activities, and programs for the general
public and for kids.
4. The Visitor Amenities Fund – These gifts help build the necessities
for families and other visitors to enjoy the Katy Prairie.

Two timely opportunities deserve our special attention this year:

5. Warren Ranch Preservation Fund – A contribution to this fund
will ensure permanent preservation of KPC’s keystone property,
the Warren Ranch. Every $3,000 gift will convert an acre of
mortgaged land into a permanently protected preserve. KPC
hopes to protect at least 500 acres of the ranch this year.
6. Prairie Patchwork Fund – KPC needs more friends who mix well
with soil. Every ten dollars raised transplants one square foot of
native prairie from a site threatened by development to a preserve
on the Katy Prairie. Gifts toward prairie preservation will grow
dividends year in and year out.

Ten percent of all restricted donations go to general operations and five
percent goes to a permanent stewardship fund so that KPC can protect
and promote the prairie both today and tomorrow.

Earth Share of Texas

Earth Share of Texas is an umbrella organization of 70 local, state, national and international nonprofit environmental groups, including the Katy Prairie Conservancy. Employees all across Texas can support Earth Share of Texas and the Katy Prairie Conservancy through their payroll deduction plans. Earth Share of Texas began in 1992 as the Environmental Fund for Texas. A small group of the state's leading nonprofit environmental and conservation organizations combined their fundraising efforts to become a part of payroll deduction plans for public and private sector employees around the state.

In 1996, the environmental fund became a state partner of Earth Share, the nation's oldest and largest environmental workplace fundraising organization. Now, thanks to this partnership, Earth Share of Texas represents the Katy Prairie Conservancy and many more of the best and most reputable of Texas' environmental organizations.

Raise money for KPC every time you buy groceries

Katy Prairie Conservancy is a member of the Kroger Share Card and Randall's Good Neighbor programs.

If you are a Kroger shopper, you can benefit KPC by showing the cashier your Kroger KPC Share Card. If you are a Randall's shopper, just talk with the customer service desk about having the KPC ID number (6658) added to your Randall’s Remarkable Card. Each merchant will donate to KPC 1% of the money they receive every time you shop. And to no cost to you! There is no charge to obtain the cards, and the funds donated through these programs come from the money you’re already paying when you shop at Kroger and Randall's.

The Kroger Share Card is a separate card which must be presented to the cashier, in addition to your Kroger Plus Card, each time you shop. The cards can be used individually. It is not necessary to have a Kroger Plus Card to use the Kroger Share Card. You can obtain a Kroger Share card from KPC by calling 713-523-6135 or by downloading one from our website. To download a card click here, and print it on your printer. Just have the cashier scan your KPC Kroger Share Card before or during checkout each time you shop.

The Randall's Good Neighbor Program links an organization code to your Randall's Card. Simply visit the customer service desk at your nearest Randall’s and ask the clerk to link your card to our code: 6658. This is a one-time request! Thereafter, Randall's will donate to KPC each time you shop and use your Randall's Remarkable Card. The card is good for in-store discounts and will also support KPC.
