Southern-leopard Frog

Southern Leopard Frogs can be heard by the thousands in January and February making laughing calls from cattle ponds, prairie potholes, and other depressions on the prairie. KPC manages over 2,500 acres of wetlands for the benefit of wildlife like the leopard frog.

Gulf-Fritillary Butterflies give a splash of color to the summer prairie. They feed on the equally lovely passionflower vine which gives the adults a nasty taste to birds and other would be predators. Their bright color says "stay away, I don't taste good!"
