The Katy Prairie is recognized as one of the hottest birding spots in the nation. There have been over 300 species of birds recorded on the Katy Prairie. The prairie is best known for its large concentrations of wintering waterfowl, such as Snow Geese, and for its importance to increasingly rare grassland birds like Northern Bob white Quail.
