CYPRESS CREEK OVERFLOW PROJECT

KPC is working with the Harris County Flood Control District, West Houston Association, Bayou Preservation Association and others to explore ways to implement the Cypress Creek Overflow Strategy 5 a plan that would reduce flood risks that are reflective of the unique hydrologic conditions in upper Cypress Creek and the drainage areas upstream of Addicks and Barker reservoirs. Implementation of the project It will manage the overflow impacts for about 18,000 acres of land in the 1% (100-year) overflow area, and will increase the area's conservation footprint by 5,000 acres in addition to laying back the banks of Bear Creek and enhancing and restoring native tallgrass prairie on KPC and other conservation lands.
