KPC has earned multiple awards over the years for its excellence in habitat and wildlife conservation. Below you'll find just a sampling over the kudos we've received.


2015 - Mary Anne Piacentini, KPC's Executive Director, was an inaugural recipient of the Terry Hershey Texas Women in Conservation Award in recognition of her hard work and dedication to preserving the Katy Prairie.

2015 - Katy Prairie Conservancy awarded the Wild Partners Award from Houston Wilderness. Given in recognition for work towards the Get Out Here Houston website and campaign. 

2015 - Jaime González, KPC's Community Conservation Director, received a Catalyst Award from Houston Tomorrow. The Houston Tomorrow Catalyst Awards recognize and honor those whose ideas and actions change and improve the quality of Houstonians’ lives. 

2015 - Jaime González, KPC's Community Conservation Director, received the Grassroots Leadership Award from Texas Children in Nature for leadership in the children and nature movement in the Greater Houston Region.

2014 - Jaime González, KPC's Community Conservation Director, received the Prairie Preservationist Award in recognition of his outstanding efforts to preserve Texas native prairies.

2011 - Jaime González, KPC's Community Conservation Director, received the Elizabeth Hull Abernathy Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to environmental education of youth.

2011 - Jaime González, KPC's Community Conservation Director, received the Alban-Heiser Award from the Houston Zoo for his work of preserving Texas's Heritage of living creatures and their environment.

2011 - Katy Prairie Conservancy received the Ann Lyon Crammond Award from The Garden Club of America. This award was given for the Coastal Prairie: Houston's Heartland exhibit which was deemed an outstanding education exhibit which best demonstrated a particular aspect of horticulture, gardening or landscape design.

2010 - Katy Prairie Conservancy received the outstanding achievement in prairie conservation presented by Houston Audubon.

2009 - Jaime González, KPC's Community Conservation Director, received the Army and Sarah Emmott Environmental Conservation Award (CEC) for his work to further restoration of the Texas Coastal Prairie.

2009 - KPC named a finalist in the 2009 Quail Conservation Awards hosted by the Texas Wildlife Association Foundation for its work in quail habitat restoration.

2006 - Mary Van Kerrebrook, President, KPC Board of Directors received the Army and Sarah Emmott Environmental Conservation Award for her work in conserving the Katy Prairie.

2005 - Mary Anne Piacentini, KPC’s Executive Director, received the Army and Sarah Emmott Environmental Conservation Award (CEC) for her work to protect the Katy Prairie.

2003 - KPC received a Regional Award from the National Conservation Wetlands Awards Program.

1998 - The Citizens Environmental Coalition awarded the Katy Prairie Conservancy the Army and Sarah Emmott Environmental Conservation Award for the organization’s success.
